      • Cross-platform installation

      ash ships Unix Shell and Windows PowerShell entry points under one installation contract. The installers support latest stable, pinned version, offline archive, custom directories, forced replacement, and uninstall.

      Pre-release trust boundary

      There is no supported signed binary release yet. The release commands below pass CI, but fail closed until the first signed Release is published. Use the pinned Cargo path below when you need to validate this checkpoint.

      Linux

      Supports x86-64 and ARM64:

      Build from source

      This path needs a stable Rust toolchain and uses the repository lockfile:

      A source install is for development validation. It is not a signed release and does not carry release-package provenance.

      Linux and macOS default to ~/.local/share/ash with the launcher at ~/.local/bin/ash. Windows defaults to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\ash.

      Both success and failure use ASON. The installer verifies target, version, archive shape, SHA-256, and embedded binary identity, and restores the previous installation if activation fails.
