Roadmap and version differences
A3S ORM grows from concrete application needs. Complete Kysely parity is not an unconditional target.
Available in v0.2.0
- Typed tables, columns, values, CRUD, joins, and result decoding.
- PostgreSQL, SQLite, and MySQL compilers.
- SQLite and PostgreSQL async executors with cancellation-safe transactions.
- CTEs, subqueries, aggregates, windows, set operations, conflict handling, and controlled raw SQL.
- PostgreSQL pooling, TLS, health, metrics, retry classes, row locks, table locks, and advisory locks.
- Ordered, checksummed, atomic SQLite and PostgreSQL migrations.
v0.2.0 does not include typed UPDATE CTEs, UPDATE FROM, or numeric expression assignments. v0.3.0 adds those capabilities while retaining the other core query and execution interfaces.
- Read-only schema admission through
MigrationLedgerandMigrator::verify_requiredis available from v0.3.1.
Next
- PostgreSQL enum, range, network, and custom-domain codecs.
Later candidates
- Typed schema-definition builders.
- Query transformation plugins.
- MySQL and additional runtime drivers.
- Broader compile-fail coverage for schema misuse.
- Query capabilities driven by concrete application needs.
Upgrade checklist
- Use the version selector above and read the same topic for the target version.
- Update the Git tag and run
cargo check. - Compile critical queries with the application dialect and inspect SQL snapshots and parameter order.
- Run real SQLite or PostgreSQL integration tests.
- Revisit idempotency, retry policy, and commit ambiguity for write transactions.
- Add forward migrations only and never change applied SQL.
